In 2020 we are going to see some new ideas in design but also many old that we never thought they would be back.

Grandmillennial style.
Blending classic and modern design elements. This seems like beautiful idea from the estethic and
practical point of view. Not only new and old can complement each other and give the interiors more character adding 'story of life' of those who inhabit them but also we tend to accumulate some furniture, decorations and art throughout the life so it would be smart to used them in a creative way.
Bold colours, earth tones, and black and white.
Pale monochromatic palettes are out but the bold ones are in. They mean to bring plenty of personality to the interiors. The earth tones will replace cool colours that prevailed on so many walls for the last decade. Look for olive green, wine, yellow ochre, and chocolate brown.
Bold black and white will make its entrance too and it is a very powerful combo. It comes with emotional response and lasting impression. It may make spaces to feel very grand but you can also use it very effectively in minimalistic design.
Dark painted doors.
No more white doors in the trends. Dark, rich colours that are paired with beautiful hardware are in. They also can add plenty of personality and elegance to the room.
Wallpaper and upholstered walls.
No, I am not talking about wallpaper on your computer...it would be expected to change it again depending on your mood or season, or simply to show your own personality through the picture that you chose. The actual wall-papers are back! Who would think so? And they come with all modern and even vintage flavours for your pleasure. Designers are bringing the wallpaper even to bathrooms for more fun looks.
Bedrooms are going to see another makeover. Instead of the headboard on the bed we are going to see entire wall behind it upholstered to about half its own height. For more dramatic look the upholstered part will extend through entire bedroom.
Tapestries.
I think this will be an edgy point. Replace your paintings or wall art with antique landscape tapestries or macrame. You actually find quite a few of the latter in the stores already? Are you ready for it? Tapestries bring in more organic, ecological, and softer look together with a neutral palette.
Real plants.
Yes, we already new it is happening. But this time we are going to see more of 'living walls' as well as interior little gardens in unusual places like this awkward nook under your stairway that was never used. Biophilic designs will try to bring in the benefits that nature has on our psyche.
Furniture with interesting and rounded shapes.
The furniture inspired by european look is in bringing in sloping arms of sofas and accent chairs, metal legs. Rounded and unusual shapes are being welcomed as well as the metal furniture with interesting silhouettes.
Neotenic design furniture.
Exaggerated thick legs, soft, round shapes, chubby, goofy child-like looks - this is what neotenic is about. The design brings the emotional response of relaxations, laughter, or other positive reaction. With neotenic furniture you will never be sure if you just supposed to look at it as a piece of art, play with it or maybe use it as your chair.
